Oh, that's right, we had our schedule so packed out that just about every single day was full.
And what a month it was.
The highlight was definitely our trip to Eastern Oregon where Marc and I were on the medical team at Young Life Camp. It is perhaps our favorite place to be. Why, you ask...Because, Marc and I get to work
together using the skills we have and love for over 350 middle school kids who come to learn about God's awesome love for them. AND our kids get to be by our side watching and helping make it all happen. AND Young Life camp is one of the most fun places to hang out. AND I didn't have to cook a meal for an entire week! Absolutely fantastic!!!!!! Here are just a few pics from our time there a couple weeks ago.
We must've played at least 100 rounds of miniature golf.
A bit humbling when our kids showed MUCH less fear than us on the "Adventure Course".
This picture doesn't do this slide justice. It was MUCH steeper than it appears. Marc and I each went on it once. That was enough to scare us to death. Caleb, however, couldn't get enough of it.
Plenty of treats. ;)
One of thirty pictures she took of herself when left alone with my camera. That's my girl.
Me and my man.
Cannot wait to add Levi to this bunch of ragamuffins.
July has gotten off to another quick start.
Spent the whole first week away at a camp for foster kids. I went alone, without my crew this time, and was again the camp nurse. I just got home late yesterday and am still trying to decide if I want to unload all that my heart took in this last week or if it would be best to compartmentalize it and tuck it away. The camp itself was incredible and my job as a nurse was a piece of cake. I do indeed still love nursing. The kids that I got the incredible privilege of hanging out with this week are ofcourse what breaks my heart. You know, ignorance is bliss. Ignorance is not good at all, but boy, it would be easier to not know the stories of these 41 campers that I fell in love with. They are precious precious precious beautiful innocent children who have lived in hell. Yep, I'm not going to be able to compartmentalize those kids out of my heart....just going to have to deal with it. Life is a beautiful mess. Beautiful because God created it and us, and a mess because sin has brought incredible darkness and hurt and pain.
Praying for His redemption and power in each of their lives.
And so thankful for the opportunity to hang out with some totally awesome kids.
I was in my room on the last day of camp beginning to let my emotions out a little bit and my phone rang. It was our adoption agency telling us we had passed the next step of paperwork and are now waiting for the FINAL TRAVEL APPROVAL from China saying that IT IS TIME to go. As I was grieving for those foster kids, my heart quickly was consumed with emotions for Levi. And I had to just take a minute to be in complete awe of God and how He alone has moved this adoption process along. So many emotions colliding together.
So, where we are at with the adoption journey now is that we should have travel approval within TWO WEEKS. Yes, a VERY big deal. Once we get that, we will book our tickets to China. Although we could go sooner, because of extremely high prices in the beginning and middle of August, we will probably leave for China on August 29th. The next two weeks need to be a time where we really focus on travel plans....so we are ready to book everything when that travel approval call comes.
Good thing we have a VERY BIG God who has this all figured out and has all things under His control. Because I certainly couldn't handle all this without Him.
Let the countdown begin.
8 weeks till we're having a baby!!!
All glory and honor and praise to Jesus.
